WITNESSING CORRECTLY WITHOUT BOUNDARIES

MATHEW 9:9-13

9 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him.

10 Later, Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners.

11 But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?”

12 When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
Matthew 9:12

13 Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

From this passage, Jesus saw Mathew and ministered the gospel of the kingdom to him. He received it and left his sinful life to follow Jesus. He was a tax collector, a thug in his days, but Jesus reached out to him. Jesus visited him that day and had lunch with him and his family.

Jesus died for everyone, let us therefore reach out to everyone around us. Let’s stop the habit of screening people before witnessing Christ to them. No discrimination, Jesus was passionate about saving souls. He was not irritated, He felt at home with them.

As He had meal in his house, many people like Mathew came to listen to Jesus. This irritated the religious fanatics of his days, because they believe they are saints and must not be polluted by sinners. But Jesus plainly told them, they don’t need help, He only makes himself available to those who need help.

The gospel is for everyone, Jesus died for everyone and He has commissioned us to preach the gospel to everyone and everywhere. Jesus identified Himself with Mathew and many more men like Mathew came to Him. The major target was for Him to reach out to them and produce Himself in them that at the end of their lives, their lives will only be summarized in Jesus.

At the end of Mathews earthly journey with Jesus, Jesus became a book and that book was summarized in Mathew. His life ended up summarizing Jesus. No one remember him as a tax collector. Jesus had swallowed him up and even from generation to generation that name “Mathew” has become the summary of the life and walk of Jesus on earth in a book.

At the end of your life, what will be the summary? When men look at you, what do they see? If your life will end up to be a book what will be the content? The indication that you have a proper walk with Jesus is that all your life will be summarized in him.

Let us live a life that speak nothing else than Jesus and I can assure you that even after you are dead, the work Jesus wrought through your life will not be silenced. Because even his death became a better avenue to expand his works. And your salvation is also part of the expansion of his work .

Don’t only live your life for the now, build up and develop a consistent proper relationship with Jesus that will speak here on earth even long after you are gone.

If we all can walk with Jesus with this understanding of being baptized into him such that our lives will be summarized in Jesus at the end, then we can successfully witness to others without boundaries and producing Jesus in them also.

Some were only baptized into Moses and whenever they read Moses, there is always a veil. Apollos experience was only limited to the baptism of John the Baptist, even though he was very zealous in his ministry.

Are you baptized into Jesus?
Are you sure the light you carry isn’t darkness?
Until you are baptized into Jesus, all that your life will project may be limited to self and nothing glorifying to God. Because when your life carry his baptism, the only thing your life will project will be Jesus.

So as we make up our minds to witness correctly without boundaries, we should also be sure we are baptized into Christ to produce more Christ like people for the kingdom.

In summary, Let’s stop the discrimination and go out there to witness Christ to all. There are still many Mathews waiting to be transformed. But we cannot give what we don’t have. Until we are baptized into Jesus, we can’t bring them into the same baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ.
