SERVING GOD IN YOUR OWN GENERATION

TEXT: ACTS 13:36

Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption; (KJV)

New International Version
“Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.

New Living Translation
This is not a reference to David, for after David had done the will of God in his own generation, he died and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed.

English Standard Version
For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption,

This passage of the scripture further explains the message of yesterday, that we are history in the making.

The bible says that after David had served his own generation by the will of God, he slept with his father’s.

The summary of why we are here is to serve our OWN GENERATION BY THE WILL OF GOD .

Men have disappointed God enough for him to stop human race and not permit procreation to take place but for the sake of this “SERVING YOUR OWN GENERATION BY THE WILL OF GOD”

NIV says “David served God’s purpose in his own generation”

This implies that there are many purposes, one of it is God’s purpose.
The question is whose purpose are you serving in your own generation?

Because ” it’s appointed unto man to die once, after which it is judgement. ”

As strong as David was in his days, He still slept with his fathers.
Everyone will sleep one day and will be long gone.

The song writers says…Only remembered by what we have done,
Thus we would pass through this world and it’s toilings,
To be remembered by what we have done.

It’s not only heaven that remember what you do, even the earth and your generation also.

Who are you serving?
Are you serving your generation at all? If yes, by whose will?

NLT says “For David after he had done the will of God in his generation”

There is a will of God for you in your generation.

The question is, have you discovered it. You may be doing many THINGS, but there is a one thing required for you to do in your OWN generation. Don’t minor on the major.

ESV calls it the purpose of God in his own generation .

My dear, I will pen it down here. I don’t know why the Lord is bringing this back to us again today.

If you have only 24hours more to live,
What will you regret?
What will be your greatest joy?
Will you sincerely say, you have truly live well?

Are you serving your generation or you are servicing yourself?
