LIVING A PRAYER LIFE

TEXT: LUKE 18:1-8

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint ;

Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man :

And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me .

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Jesus was a teacher while on earth. One day, he decided to teach on the subject of prayer. As his custome, he taught using parable.

Verse 1, says He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought to always pray and not to faint. Meaning the lesson to be learnt from that parable is that MEN OUGHT TO ALWAYS PRAY AND NOT TO FAINT.

From that passage it implies that the opposite of paying is fainting. So if we are not praying we are fainting.

Jesus in his earthly journey was a praying man. He even told us that he does whatever he sees his father do. Meaning he was constantly connected to God. And this is what prayer means, having a communion with God.

So if we are not communicating with God we are fainting (life is going out of us, we are becoming weak). Because in Him was Life and that life is the Light of men.

Living a life of prayer is essential as a believer. It lightens our path and gives us life. We come alive with prayer because our communion with God connect us to God and God is life.
For in Him we live, we move and have our being.

One of the lessons Jesus taught us is that MEN OUGHT TO ALWAYS PRAY AND NOT STOP.

Prayer is not until when you shout and cry out in the name of Jesus. Prayer is communion with God, simple!

How often do we communicate with him. How often do we talk with him. He longs for fellowship. Most of us have limited our prayer life to when we are in need or quiet time.

These are the real words of Jesus. So far you are a man, created in God’s image and his likeness, you ought always to pray. You are not to break communication with the father. To know that you are alive and not dead as a man, prayer is the meter used to check that.

To let you know how much God cherish prayers, he told Abimelech, you are a dead man, return Sarah back to her husband and he will pray for you,then you and your household will be healed.

God could have healed Abimelech immediately he obeyed that instruction but he still requires Abraham’s prayer to bring him healing.

It’s part of our make up to pray and not to faint. We are created to worship God. To reference him and commune with him.

Let’s cultivate the life style of prayer. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to help us to develop this lifestyle.
