FIGHT FOR YOUR TERRITORIAL DOMINION

TEXT : JUDGES 6 : 1-16

From the above passage of the scriptures, the children of Israel were oppressed by the Midianites. The bible said the hands of the Midianites prevailed over the children of Israel. When the Midianites became short of human resources their animals were also used in the battle against the Israelites to deal with them.

Judges 6:5 (KJV) “For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.”

Then the children of Israel cried to God for help and the Lord came to their rescue. The first thing God did was to open their eyes to see where they missed it.

10. I told you, ‘I am the lord your God. You must not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you now live.’ But you have not listened to me.”
Judges 6:10 ( NLT )

Judges 6:10 ( KJV)
“And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God ; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice. ”

They were confronted with the territorial powers of the land, they became intimidated and threatened, then they feared them. NLT said they worshipped them. The implication is that they reference those gods and as far as God is concerned they worshipped them.

You will always be at the mercy of the one you fear.
This is serious!

As far as God is concerned, their way of life trying to avoid the gods of the Amorites, trying to be careful of those gods in that territory, trying not to be a threat to those gods, it’s an indication of their silent reference to those gods and it’s a form of worship. They don’t want to make trouble, they only want to play safe, it’s called worship, it’s called fear. That’s what the bible call it.

Remember Nebuchadnezzar wrote a letter to the people of Babylon telling them that everyone must reference the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

Daniel 3: 28-29
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king’s command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
29 Therefore, I make this decree: If any people, whatever their race or nation or language, speak a word against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they will be torn limb from limb, and their houses will be turned into heaps of rubble. There is no other god who can rescue like this! ”

In summary the king was saying, I don’t mind the God you serve but as far as the God of these three Hebrews is concerned, dare not to go against him. Add him to the list of gods to be referenced because none of the gods of the land can do this. He made a decree for EVERY PEOPLE, NATION AND LANGUAGE to follow. In other words, the God of the Hebrews now have dominion over this territory and He must be referenced. Meaning as long as we don’t have any other god that can dethrone him in this territory, He remains the Super God and must be the only one to be referenced.

You don’t need to bow before a physical goddess before you worship it. As long as you fear it and decide to play safe around it, you worship it as far as heaven is concerned.

God wants us to be territorial, to move from being a gate keeper to becoming a gate. The devil will do all he can to fight our BECOMING process.

There is a kingdom to possess for our God, because the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our God.

Dominion comes by fighting. We need the sword to have dominion. Though the Israelites live in the land but couldn’t possess it. As far as heaven is concerned, no possession, no dominion.

Melchizedek approached Abraham and said “Blessed be the God of Abraham, the possessor of heaven and the earth” But that was after he had gone out in battle and conquered the four cities that conquered five cities earlier (by implication, in one night he gained victory over nine cities). He gained dominion over their king, land and the people.

If we do not learn the acts of taking the battle to the gates of the enemies, we will not be able to possess our possession, we won’t be able to dominate our territorial place of assignment.

God wants to be glorified, but most times. We get scared and frightened because of the territorial challenges. In this kingdom we belong to, we fight and take territories. Even when the righteous man falls, he rises up to keep fighting.

When David became king, the Jebusites refuse him their territory. He didn’t run away, he stayed there and fought, won, dominated and called it his City. Though dedicated to God as Jerusalem but it was named after him as “The City Of David”

2 Samuel 5:6-10
6 David then led his men to Jerusalem to fight against the Jebusites, the original inhabitants of the land who were living there. The Jebusites taunted David, saying, “You’ll never get in here! Even the blind and lame could keep you out!” For the Jebusites thought they were safe.
7 But David captured the fortress of Zion, which is now called the City of David.
9 So David made the fortress his home, and he called it the City of David. He extended the city, starting at the supporting terraces and working inward.
10 And David became more and more powerful, because the lord God of Heaven’s Armies was with him.

The question is, where is your territorial assignment? Are you threatened? Don’t run away, stay there. You will overtake and takeover. There is a City named after you in the spirit realm, where God wants to bring his kingdom. His kingdom must come, but we have been assigned to fight and gain territories for him.

In summary, there is a territory God has assigned for you. And you must dominate it because, we are created to have dominion and subdue the earth. To dominate, we have to engage in a battle. The battle for your territorial dominion is related to your purpose and assignment because there is a territory assigned to fulfil your purpose and dominate your mountain of influence.

Until you wrestle and win, you may not be able to gain dominion over it. Remember, even though David was a king yet he couldn’t dominate the Jebusites until he fought for it and it was in his victory his City appeared.
