END OF THE YEAR BATTLE FOR KINGS

TEXT: 2 Samuel 11:1-5

The bible made us to understand that at the expiration of every year,kings are meant to be at the battlefield.

As though,the end of every year is what determines the outcome of the next year. And this result is determined at the end of the year’s battles for the kings.

We all know that end of the year is always festive period, busy and beautiful. But the bible says. Its time when kings to the battlefield.

But, David the warrior saw no reason to go to the battle field anymore. Instead, he sent his best hands to the field and stayed behind for relaxation.

End of the year seasons are known for celebrations, so he was in the mood of celebration. He doesn’t want to do any warfare.

In this kingdom, we do things by divine instruction and revelation not by how we feel.

This is the end of the year. Its time for battle. Time to set the next year right.

While David was relaxing, Joab was doing his assignment for him. When a man doesn’t stay where he is meant to be at a particular time, the devil will help to use his time for him.

Every minute of our life counts, and we most understand each season’s of our life.

So David, the end of the year wasn’t for Vacation and holidays as a king, it’s for waging wars and fighting. But when you muddle up seasons and timings, excusing yourself away from your duty post, you may not survive that season and if you survive, you may come out of it injured.

Who are you? A king!
When the year is about running to an end,what do you do? You go to the battle field and fight and not Feast at home.

If as a king, you don’t engage yourself in your placed of primary assignment assigned to you by God, you may enter the new year wounded. And that was what happened to David.

The next year was a tough one for him.
(His sin searched him out, the woman became pregnant, he tried doing some scheming to cover up his sin but couldn’t, killed Uriah, married the woman, then child died, struggled with his relationship with God.. All these were the package the enemy got for him for the next year ).

The battle he was meant to fight was fought by someone else. While people were busy undertaking his assignment for him,he was busy scheming with sin. Sin of lust, to adultery, to deception, to murder.

Uriah was fighting at his post, David was busy with his wife in bed. The woman got pregnant, Uriah was still at the battle field, David was yet still at home. Sent for Uriah, got him drunk and told him to go home to sleep with his wife. Trying to lure him into sleeping with his wife,yet Uriahs heart was at the battle field.

Uriah! What a man. When the city was on fire and needed kings on the battle field, the king was busy scheming.

When we do not take assignment in due season, we open door for the devil to strike because our vulnerability level becomes high at such times.

Take heed and maximize the season of the end of the year.
