DISCOVER YOUR FAMILY’S IDENTITY

2 CHRONICLES 26:1-16

TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 26:1-3
1 All the people of Judah had crowned Amaziah’s sixteen-year-old son, Uzziah, as king in place of his father.
2 Chronicles 26:1

2 After his father’s death, Uzziah rebuilt the town of Elath and restored it to Judah .
2 Chronicles 26:2

3 Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother was Jecoliah from Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 26:3

The people of Judah made Uzziah king in the place of his father. King James version said, Uzziah was made king in the room of his father. After the death of his father, he was appointed the king of Judah to continue where his father stopped.

Every family is endowed by God to fulfill a purpose. And as children of God we are to discover this purpose and our family spiritual identity with God, so that our journey on earth will have a transgenerational impact.

Amaziah means “Strengthened by God”
Uzziah means “Yah is my strength”
Jecoliah means “Perfected/Power of the lord; Powerful/hath prevailed ; Able through God”

It is the content that determines the name of the container, not the other way round. E.g. A bottle of Fanta, A sachet of water, A plate of rice. It’s because a bottle is full of Coca-Cola that is why it’s called, a bottle of Coca-Cola.

Even after it is emptied, the brand name is still used to call the bottle because the company doesn’t only fill the container with the content but also put the label of their brand name on it and also give it a unique shape for their product.

You have been shaped by God to suit the name of his brand upon your life and family because his work is a transgenerational work that is not limited to a man.

When You understand who you are and the content God has poured into your container to operate, you will be able to understand the consecration and lifestyle heaven has ordained for you and your family.

Your name is your identity.
As far as the family of Amaziah is concerned, the combination of that name explain their family’s Spiritual Identity. And their official position gives them the platform to successfully carry out their Spiritual assignment.

Apart from the fact that they’ve been assigned to lead the people of Judah, they ‘ve also been given a Spiritual Key to access Gods strength in taking over territories. Where others struggle to capture by the reason of their family Spiritual Identity and authority, territories will open up whenever they rise up to take their place. Because, there is a seal of Gods endowment and grace upon their family that speaks God’s strength.

By implication of their identity, they have been endowed by God’s strength to prevail in battles and take over territories. By implication they are not meant to be cowards, they are not meant to be careful of the devil, they are to take the battle to the gates of the enemies, they are to be daring and be eager to take up challenges to takeover territories because by design, they are not to be loosers in battle. Even their babes and sucklings will still takeover the enemies and avengers.

By implication, they will have to live a life that is absolutely dependent on God and God will not spare them when there is any element of pride found in them.

Jeduthun was a man who discovered his family’s identity and far after he was gone, the Spiritual endowment was still present in his family. They were to be worshippers in God’s vineyard, he understood it, lived it out in his days and carried his children along.

The Levites also have their family Spiritual Identity, they lived a life of transgenerational impact.

When the angel of the Lord visited Jacob and gave him a new name Israel (a new label) what do you think was heaven’s focus, it was a new assignment. That family was to birth a nation for God. God was set to establish the prophecy given to Abraham that night. And because the assignment of God was about to take a new dimension, Jacob’s name was changed.

Every family has a purpose to fulfil and it is not limited to only the head of the family because it’s God’s own project that spans through generations.

The family of Amaziah was graced with God’s formidable strength and can take territories for the Lord if they understand and operate in it.

Uzziah was made king in his father’s room (place), because of the grace operating in that family. A son must take it up and continue it even after the father is gone. Uzziah didn’t only wIn the battle over the territory of Eloth, he built it and restored it to Judah. He went far beyond what his father couldn’t achieve. That is the purpose of walking in the divine calling of your family.

There is an apportioned grace for your family. Find it out, it will also help you to have a clear understanding of how your family is meant to behave and live. It will determine, your consecration, lifestyle, choice of friend .e.t.c. and how to operate in God’s divine plan for your family.

You will have the understanding of things you are not permitted to do that others can do even though it doesn’t appear to be a sin. It will also help you to understand God’s template for your family and how to walk in it.

Your family spiritual identity determines your family consecration but to be ignorant can make us do things against our consecration.

The family of Amaziah got their brand name well arranged by God ( Amaziah: Strengthened by Yahweh joined together with Jecoliah: Powerful, Perfected, Prevailed and able through Jehovah to Produce a son whose strength is the Lord’s ). And as long as Uzziah is totally dependent on God’s strength which is his family’s consecration, he was able to achieve more. Until in verse 16, he rebelled against God. He became proud and he ended his life without finishing well.

It is dangerous to live without purpose, but more dangerous to live ignorantly of Gods divine endowment upon your family that serve as the mantle of operation in your home, because, it will not only deprive your family from making transgenerational impact but will subject your family to ending without finishing their God’s given assignments.

In summary, it’s good to have an understanding of spiritual purpose, but there is also a need to understand the seal of God’s identity upon your family which defines the content of God upon our family container and heaven’s assignment upon our family.

I think it is high time we began to ask the Lord about the position of our family in this end time kingdom project and heaven’s expectations about our family.

Let’s also note that the family here goes beyond our physical families and can also be applicable to the spiritual families that God has planted us in.
