DISCERNING DESTINY DECISIONS

TEXT : RUTH 1: 1-18
1 In the days when the judges ruled in Israel, a severe famine came upon the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah left his home and went to live in the country of Moab, taking his wife and two sons with him .
2 The man’s name was Elimelech, and his wife was Naomi. Their two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in the land of Judah. And when they reached Moab, they settled there.
3 Then Elimelech died, and Naomi was left with her two sons.
4 The two sons married Moabite women. One married a woman named Orpah, and the other a woman named Ruth. But about ten years later,
5 both Mahlon and Kilion died. This left Naomi alone, without her two sons or her husband .
6 Then Naomi heard in Moab that the lord had blessed his people in Judah by giving them good crops again. So Naomi and her daughters-in-law got ready to leave Moab to return to her homeland.
7 With her two daughters-in-law she set out from the place where she had been living, and they took the road that would lead them back to Judah.
8 But on the way, Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back to your mothers’ homes. And may the lord reward you for your kindness to your husbands and to me.
9 May the lord bless you with the security of another marriage.” Then she kissed them good-bye, and they all broke down and wept .
10 “ No,” they said. “We want to go with you to your people.”
11 But Naomi replied, “Why should you go on with me? Can I still give birth to other sons who could grow up to be your husbands?
12 No, my daughters, return to your parents’ homes, for I am too old to marry again. And even if it were possible, and I were to get married tonight and bear sons, then what?
13 Would you wait for them to grow up and refuse to marry someone else? No, of course not, my daughters! Things are far more bitter for me than for you, because the lord himself has raised his fist against me.”
14 And again they wept together, and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-bye. But Ruth clung tightly to Naomi.
15 “ Look,” Naomi said to her, “your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods. You should do the same .”
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God .
17 Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”
18 When Naomi saw that Ruth was determined to go with her, she said nothing more.

Elimelech and his family are bread driven. They live for what to eat. They so much depend on the hand to mouth principle. So when the house of bread had no bread, they left the house of bread. Because they needed to survive, they left in search of a greener pasture. We all know the story.

Then at different seasons, they lost the men of the family. The seed carriers were sacrificed in the strange land. They traded bread for seed. Hmmm! They couldn’t discern the spiritual transaction of that season, they were driven by what to eat.

For us to know that they were food driven, when Naomi heard that the Lord had visited his people she made up her mind to go back. But she had lost the seed carrier of the family because of what to eat.
Just the way Eve lost her seed because of the fruit.

As Naomi journeyed back to the Bethlehem with her two daughter-in-laws, she regretted her family decision but they have lost the seed. There was a Kairos moment for the family but they lost it. She told her daughter in-laws to go back. But Ruth, one of the daughter in law refuse to go back.

She was a Moabites but had fallen in love with the God of her mother in law. From her word we discover that Naomi’s God was a priority.

Her decision was rewarded by the Lord. Humanly speaking, there is no advantage in Naomi. But yet she could discern the God of Naomi. Despite the fact that Naomi’s life is in shambles yet, she made a decision to follow her.
Naomi persuaded her yet, she refuse to go back.

We need to always pray for divine direction, if a lady who is not a partaker of the divine heritage could make her stand, that aligned her correctly into heavens agenda, then we have no excuse.

Mary the mother of Jesus never knew that her acceptance to the proposal of Joseph qualified her to be the mother of Jesus, despite the fact that she was not qualified as she wasn’t in the lineage of David, but by the virtue of her union with Joseph she was grafted into God’s plan.

Abraham discerned the three angels and feed them. We need discernment in our decision making. This end time is jampacked with various assignments and mandates, we need to be part of what the Lord wants to do but if our decisions are not aligned we may not be qualified.

Elimelech and family missed their Kairos season, they lived a life that is dependent on what to eat. They lost their family seed because of what to eat. Just the way Eve lost her place because of what to eat. She lost her seed because of the fruit.

But God said that the seed of the woman will bruise the head of the serpent. And that prophecy came to pass in Mary’s life.

We need discernment this season of last days. We are in a Kairos moment, this season is the last phase of heavens agenda and we must discern what the Lord wants us to do per time. Because decision is keen this season.

There are lots of assignment hanging in the kingdom, but as many that can align they are the ones who will be a partaker in this final harvest.
